Episode 1 (Part 1)

The Human Side of Big Health Data

Digital Health Illustrated Episode 1 (Part I)

Health data is the black gold of the 21st century. In fact, as noted in a new report by Jane Sarasohn-Kahn (which was published by the California Healthcare Foundation), we are collectively generating large quantities of “health data exhaust,” which is being collected, analyzed and used by a range of organizations, including insurance firms and wellness companies — for good and ill.

What are the human implications of the health data boom? What do consumers (both ordinary Americans and ePatients) think about the privacy and security issues associated with big health data?

This is the subject of the first episode of a new video blog series called Digital Health Illustrated. It is designed to feature thinking, original research and more about how digital technologies are influencing health globally.

The first episode of Digital Health Illustrated is divided into two parts. Part 1 focuses on the human side of the health data boom.
